K.I.N. was established in 1992, as a memorial to longtime Lake Nebagamon business owners, Wally and Marge Urbaniak. The Urbaniak’s were known for their community service and activity in programs aiding children and families in need.

Community Partnerships
K.I.N. partners with and supports other community charities, including:
- F.I.G. (Fill in the Gaps) local school supply drive to assist students in the Northwestern School District
- Scholarships for deserving students at Northwestern School District
- Local Scouting and sports projects
- Literacy programs
The assisted families, especially the children, are encouraged to “Pay it Forward” by helping others in the community when their own circumstances improve.
